A/PROF NEIL TAN

A/Prof Neil Tan is a Consultant Rhinologist and Head of Department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in the United Kingdom. He completed his ENT training in the East of England and during this period spent two years in Adelaide, Australia where, under the supervision of Prof PJ Wormald, he was awarded a PhD with distinction investigating the role of intracellular bacteria in the pathogenesis of Chronic Rhinosinusitis. After completing training, he undertook two years of sub-speciality fellowships in Anterior and Lateral Skull Base Surgery at Addenbroke’s Hospital, Cambridge and in Advanced Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery in Adelaide, Australia as fellow to Prof PJ Wormald and Prof Alkis Psaltis. 

He is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Exeter Medical School and Research Lead for the British Rhinologic Society. He is a council member of the British Rhinologic Society and  British Otorhinolaryngology & Allied Sciences Research Society. He has published over 45 scientific articles and book chapters.

He has a keen interest in medical education and postgraduate training having completed a Master of Education with distinction at the University of Cambridge, and he is the Residency Director for ENT Surgery in the South West of England. He has taught on endoscopic sinus surgery courses and lectured in North America, Australia, Europe and the UK, and leads his own Frontal Sinus Masterclass in the UK.
