DR UMAKANTH KATWA
Director, Sleep Laboratory Paediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Boston Children’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School Boston, USA Dr Katwa is board certified Paediatric Pulmonary & Sleep Specialist at Boston Children Hospital and Instructor of Paediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He is the Director of Sleep Laboratory, and Co-Director, Sleep Apnea and Sleep Surgery Program. Dr. Katwa graduated from Medical School in India and completed his pediatrics residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He did his Fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology and sleep medicine at Harvard university.
His directs a multidisciplinary sleep clinic which specializes in treating children with complex sleep disordered breathing with a team of experts from various specialty including ENT, dentistry, maxillofacial surgeons, and speech specialist. His area of active research includes phenotyping OSA in children, precision diagnosis and treatment initiative, and sleep endoscopy. He directs paediatrics sleep medicine courses at Harvard Medical School and co-directs Paediatric Dental Sleep Medicine Course at Tufts University. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally and co-authored numerous publications in form of articles, in peer-reviewed medical journals, books and chapters. Dr. Katwa as member of Children Airway Screening Taskforce (CAST) by American Dental Association and as global leader in his field leading the fight against pandemic of obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Katwa, has been elected president of the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin – Sleep, known as AAPIOS.
