Retno S Wardani, MD, Ph.D. is an Otorhinolaryngologist Consultant with Rhinology as the subspecialty. She finished her research for the Ph.D. degree in 2011 under the supervision of prof. Wang De Yun of National University Singapore about gene expression profile of nasal polyps. Since then, she has focused on adult and pediatric rhinology, inflammation - immunology of the nose, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) for surgical intervention for any inflammatory disease of the nose, and Advanced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery that uses the nasal corridor to reach the orbit and the skull base.

Jakarta Endoscopic Ear and Sinus Surgery (JE2S) and previously Jakarta International FESS (JiFESS) course and workshop have been provided media for her enthusiasm in teaching surgical techniques and its related subjects in endoscopic sinus surgery for the purpose of the regeneration process of ENT specialist in Indonesia.

Her growing interest in sleep medicine since 2007 has been parallel with the enjoyment of Rumi’s quote about sleep as the addition to the Islamic culture for doing a regular bi-phasic sleep to do worship with love to the Almighty. Furthermore, she has been working hard on review and research to prove her belief and hypothesis that everyone has their appropriate sleep duration, and nasal obstruction/inflammation precedes any pathophysiology of sleep apnea.
