Dr. Irene Lau is a practicing dental surgeon based in Hong Kong with clinical focus on pediatric dentistry, pediatric dental sleep medicine, and care for individuals with special healthcare needs. She began her journey more than 20 years ago, earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from New York University, completing specialist training in pediatric dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital New York and she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science. Since then, she has practiced across public and private sectors in the United States, Mainland China, and Hong Kong.

She is a founding partner of two multidisciplinary dental clinics in Hong Kong. In 2020, she established Hello Smile Hong Kong, a registered charity that provides oral health services for children in under-resourced communities, including those with special healthcare needs.

Dr. Lau currently serves as Vice President of both the Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Dentistry and the Hong Kong Association of Dental Sleep Medicine and is a board member of the Pediatric Dentistry Association of Asia.

Driven by a passion for improving pediatric airway health, she regularly participates in international residencies, symposia, and airway health courses sharing insights as a speaker while continuing to learn alongside global peers.

Her areas of interest include pediatric airway health, dental sleep medicine, and creating care pathways for children who need extra support. She values opportunities to learn from colleagues, exchange experiences, and keep conversations focused on improving access and outcomes for young patients.
